Step-by-Step Corner Post Setup
- Dig Deep Post Holes: Set primary corner and end posts at least 3.5 to 4 feet into the ground, well below the local frost line.
- Anchor in High-Strength Concrete: Secure corner posts with dense concrete mixes, slope the top collar away from the post for drainage, and allow 48 hours cure time before tensioning.
- Install the Horizontal Cross-Spanner: Connect the corner post to an adjacent brace post (spaced 8 feet apart) using a heavy-duty wooden or steel horizontal spanner log.

Safe and Effective Wire Tensioning Mechanics
Tensioning barbed wire requires specialized tools and strict safety precautions. Over-tensioning can snap the wire or pull corner braces out of alignment, while under-tensioning leads to sagging lines that livestock can easily push through.
- Unroll Wire Safely: Use a rolling wire dispenser or unroller frame attached to an ATV or tractor. Never unroll barbed wire manually along the ground without mechanical guides.
